We don't need to book - so we don't neeeeeeed to know numbers although it would be good to know how many chairs and tables to smoosh together. They are open on Thursday nights till 10pm.

Kirsty Skilbeck, environmental educator, will lead the discussion.

Today we've been singing all day in our house, we've just found out about the Count us in music event that will take place next Thursday at 11.30am all around the country.

I find this really cool; over half a million kids, teachers and parents singing the same song at the same time!
The song is on the website; you can download it and the lyrics and the sheet music, even a music only mp3, to practice singing along. You can organise your own get together with other homeschoolers or join in with some schools at a public place.
I've registered as a homeschooler and I know where all the schools in Mildura will meet, and we'll join them there, just to be part of this awesome event.
On the website is a video-clip with students singing it and signing Auslan, we're now watching that clip many a times to be able to sign the song too!
I just thought I'd share this event with all of you as it brought so much life and happiness in our day today.

We begin with a 1hr interactive conservation program with an educational question & answer session, a short break for picnic lunch / snack and then 2 exciting hours on the courses
Date: Monday 11th October

Time: 11am - 2pm

Venue: Trees Adventure, Glen Harrow Gardens, Old Monbulk Rd, Belgrave, 3160.

Fees: $16 (6-9yrs) / $25 (10+ years) per child (parental assistance is required at a ratio of 1 parent to every 2 children / 1 to 4 children in the older courses) @ the same rate as the children - if you wish to climb/join in - please 'buy' a place for yourself.

Age: 5 years to adult / 5-9years (5-6yrs require an adult as above), 6yrs+ parents may supervise from the ground. 10+ venture onto the more advanced courses and require 1 adult per 4 children.

Bookings: required

We will discuss how the gardens and the obstacle courses are operating in sync. The Conservation Area - Glen Harrow Gardens in practice is part of Sherbrooke Forest. Platypus, Lyre birds and yabbies.
The obstacle courses: Soar through the forest on an array of flying foxes and take on a series of thrilling challenge. Adventurers move between platforms between 2 and 12 metres in height, across a series of imaginative obstacles. There are easy courses for those scared of heights to `black runs' for thrill seekers.

Each participant will be fully equipped and trained. The obstacle course provides an opportunity to be daring but also requires participants to take responsibility in a controlled environment, which builds capability and ultimately self-confidence.

INDIANA JONES – EAT YOUR HEART OUT!Soar through the trees, adventuring between platforms (2 -12 metres high!) by negotiating a series of mid-air challenges. Crawl through barrels, wobble on monkey bridges, jump on the aerial skateboard, test your balance on the Tarzan line, and enjoy the thrill of the flying fox!

The challenges are exhilarating and will test your self-belief. The challenges range from easy to `are you insane?'

You get 2 hours on the challenges.

Everyone is taken through a simple safety session before starting.

Tree-top obstacles courses were introduced in France in 1995 and have become a massive industry across Europe. Now they are taking Australia by storm and we are pleased to announce we are the first in Victoria and are one of the first parks in the world to utilise the state-of-the-art karabiner system, which ensures one karabiner is locked on the life-line at all times.

We will be holding three retreats over the space of 11 days. Each retreat will be 2 and 1/2 days. Numbers will be capped at 30 families at each retreat. This will allow us to connect and share in a beautifuly relaxed atmosphere.

Location will be at the beautiful Tallebudgerra Creek, Gold Coast, QLD, Australia and the venue is Tallebudgera Tourist Park.

Accomodation at Tallebudgera Tourist Park includes camping & villas (villas are very limited so you need to be quick!) Otherwise nearby accomodation options are available at Burleigh Heads.

Date to be confirmed. At this stage we are working towards the beginning of September 2010.

The retreat will include a 2 hour introductory and overview talk by Dayna Martin, 4 interactive discussion groups, a seperate Dad's discussion group, a Saturday evening disco, and children's activities including clay modelling workshops, origami/paper folding, paper planes, face painting, music, beach/sand toys, dress-ups, painting, play-dough, board games, beading, sports area, craft.

We are presently in the process of inviting some more guest speakers, and will update this blog with the details shortly.

Is there anyone who would be interested in doing a tour of the Essendon Football club. AFL Team. (before their possable move) and hall of fame at Windyhill, Essendon?

There is a cost involved and there is a minimum of 5 people.
Cost quoted in June is Adult $12. Child 7-14 $8. Children under 7 free. But I am unsure if this is for the tour only or for the tour and hall of fame?

I am waiting for a reply to an email to confirm costs and finer details.

Wednesdays the tour is taken by former players
Jack Jones and Ken Fraiser at 10am.
Fridays the tour is run by a man called Gregor McCaskie also at 10am.
