In your Profile Settings / Edit Your Profile, under "Your Options", under "Settings" click on "Notification Options".

Make sure you scroll through the whole page. There is a new option of "inline notifications" rather than PM's or emails. These are little messages that appear on the main forum page, in the right hand column, above the Forum announcements box. If you have no notifications, there will be nothing there to see. Back to the forum notifications options, I think the idea behind the inline notifications is that it stops you from getting too many PM's. Make sure once you have selected which ever options you want, you click save at the bottom.
To view your inline notifications, again under "Settings" click on "Your Notifications"

You can view and delete these there. Once you get a certain number they will start auto-deleting - I think it's about 50. So the 51st one will replace number 1, so you don't need to be pedantic about deleting these.
