Ok there are some help topics that come built in but I realise it's like moving into a new house.... the bathrooms not in the same place and WHERE are we going to plug the kettle in? All these things take a little bit of time to get used to.

First of all, the home page. This is the page you arrive at when you go to
http://www.rockpoolhomeschool.com
It has a weird layout of forum topics(if I do say so myself) but on the top right are some handy dandy links to latest posts and to contact us. It's a good place to start, but it's not the actual forum where you want to hang around.

If at any stage you want to return to the home page, click on the giant but extremely cool rockpool homeschool photo up the top.

We have a menu bar along the top, this will take you into the actual forum and other wonderful bits and pieces that we all need.

Now this site is also a bit weird because you get to have two avatars. The one you see up in the box on the top right is your personal photo. If you happen to be photogenic, you can stick a photo in there for sure. But an avatar will work just as well.

The setting in your profile for avatar is only for your forum posts. You can see from this post, I've used snoopy as my Avatar, but if you click on my personal profile, hopefully you will see the cartoon me.

One more note, reviews are up. They use exactly the same log in details as you used for the rest of the site, you just might have to log in there. For some bizarre reason if you log into reviews first it will remember you here but the other way is still *interesting*

Just a quick question:

I note that the latest topics are in a column on the RHS, but is there a button for recent posts?

Yes, there is because I have it bookmarked. But now I can't remember where I found it!! :dntknw:
There's a really good list of help topics but I lost that too.

Sorry, you'll have to wait for a cleverer person to come along.

Edit- ooh, I could give you the link. Here it is.

On the right hand side, just up above all of the navigation menus (so just above "Recently Added Topics" is a little line of print saying "View New Content" next to an orange RSS symbol. That's the link you want.
Ok the other way to get there is on the home page / front page - under Site Navigation on the top right hand side, click on "Today's Active Topics".
